How much does home window tinting cost?

How long does installation take?
Most jobs are completed in a day or less.
What happens on install day?
Our crew arrives on time, lays down drop cloths and moves furniture and blinds out of the way with care. Every window is cleaned and prepped before the film goes on. When we're done, we put things back, clean up and walk you through the finished work.
Can I tint just a few windows?
Yes. Tint as many as you want, from one west wall to the whole house. The whole house gives you the most comfort and the biggest cooling savings over the years.

Do you offer any discounts?
Yes. Military and first responders get 10% off, on home and commercial jobs. Just mention it at the estimate.
Light or Dark, and How It Looks
Will window tint make my house dark?
Only as dark as you want it. Our light films keep your daylight and still block up to 80% of the sun's infrared heat. Darker and reflective films give you more privacy and the strongest heat rejection. We'll show you both on your own windows.

Do I need a dark film to block heat and UV?
No. Light and dark are both good choices. Ultra-VisionDS 40 blocks 80% of the sun's infrared heat and over 98% of UV. Darker and reflective films add privacy and our top heat number, 83% of the sun's total heat with DR Mirror 7.

What VLT keeps a home bright?
VLT is the share of daylight that comes through the film. Ultra-VisionDS 70 lets in 69% and Ultra-VisionDS 50 lets in 57%, and both keep a room bright. You'll see the difference on your own glass at the estimate.

Will tinted windows look cloudy?
No. Good film on clean glass is optically clear. A light haze in the first days is normal while the film cures, and it clears on its own. Our lifetime home warranty covers bubbling, peeling, fading and discoloring.

Can I use different shades in different rooms?
We match one film to the look you pick for the whole house. That keeps every window clean and even from the street. Frosted film for a bathroom or front entry is the exception, because it does a different job.

Is there a clear window tint that blocks heat?
Yes. Ultra-VisionDS is made to be barely visible on the glass. Ultra-VisionDS 40 blocks 80% of the sun's infrared heat, and every shade blocks over 97% of UV.

Is clear film the same as ceramic window tint?
Many people ask for ceramic film when what they want is a clear film that blocks heat. That's what Ultra-VisionDS is made to do. We'll show you how it looks on your glass at the estimate.

Will my house look like a mirror from the street?
With a reflective film, it will look reflective in daylight, more so with the darker shades. SymphonyDS 50 is the most subtle from outside in our dual-reflective lineup. Light films like Ultra-VisionDS look like glass.

Heat, UV and Fading
What's the best window film for Tucson heat?
For the most heat rejection, a reflective film. DR Mirror 7 rejects 83% of the sun's total heat. For a light look, Ultra-VisionDS 40 blocks 80% of the sun's infrared heat and keeps the view. Pick the look, and we match one film to the house.

Which film is best for west-facing windows?
For the coolest room, we'd go darker, with a dual-reflective film like SymphonyDS or DR Mirror. If the view matters most, Ultra-VisionDS 40 keeps it light. We check the glass first, since not every film suits every window.

What do TSER, VLT and SHGC mean?
TSER is total solar energy rejected, the share of the sun's heat the film keeps out. Higher is cooler. VLT is how much daylight comes through. Higher is lighter. SHGC is the share of the sun's heat that ends up inside. Lower is better.

Does window film save energy?
It lowers cooling costs by cutting the heat that comes through the glass. You'll notice it most in rooms that take afternoon sun.

Does window film help in winter too?
Some of our films also reduce heat loss through the glass on cold nights. We'll point those out at the estimate.
Does window film prevent fading?
It greatly reduces it. Our solar films block up to 99% of UV, the main cause of fading in floors, furniture and fabric. Visible light and heat play a part too, so film slows fading a great deal rather than stopping it completely.

Does window film protect blinds and shutters?
Yes. Window coverings take the full sun every day. With film on the glass, blinds, shades and shutters keep their color longer.

Does window film protect artwork?
Yes, it greatly reduces fading. Ultra-VisionDS blocks over 97% of UV in the lightest shade and over 98% in the others. Because the film is clear, the room and the art keep their natural light.

Your Windows and Glass
Can film go on dual-pane or Low-E windows?
Yes, in most cases. The right film depends on the glass, the window size and how much sun it gets. We check every window at the estimate and only use films that are a safe match for your glass.

Is window film safe for my windows?
We check every window at the estimate, and we only use films that are a safe match for your glass.

Do I need a light film on dual-pane windows?
No. Light and dark films can both be a safe match. We check your glass and tell you which films fit, so you can pick the look you want.
Read more: Window film on dual-pane and Low-E windows
Does window film go on the inside or outside of the glass?
Inside, in almost every case. That's where film lasts longest in the Arizona sun. We use exterior film case by case, only when a window truly needs it.
Can you put film on new windows?
Usually, yes. We check the glass first and only use films that are a safe match for it.
Is film a good alternative to replacing my windows?
If your windows are in good shape and the problem is heat, glare or fading, start with film. It works on the glass you have, and most jobs are completed in a day or less.

How do I clean window film?
Use a microfiber towel and an ammonia-free cleaner. That's all it needs.
Privacy, Frosted and Blackout Films
Which window film gives privacy at night?
Frosted film, White Out and Black Out give privacy day and night because they block the view instead of reflecting it. Reflective and one-way mirror films give daytime privacy. At night, with lights on inside, people can see in.
Read more: Privacy window film
Can neighbors see in through one-way mirror film?
Not during the day, when it's brighter outside than in. They see a reflection while you see out. After dark with your lights on, the effect reverses, so your blinds take over in the rooms you use at night.
Read more: One-way mirror film
What is dual reflective window film?
It's a film with a more reflective outside face and a less reflective inside face. You get daytime privacy and strong heat control, with a softer, more natural view from inside. We install two lines, Dual-ReflectiveDS and SymphonyDS.
Read more: Dual reflective film
What's the best privacy film for a bathroom?
For most bathrooms, frosted or etched-look film. It gives privacy around the clock, keeps the light and looks like it came with the house.
Read more: Decorative and frosted film
Is frosted film good for a front door or sidelights?
Yes. It keeps the entry bright and stops people from seeing down the hall. Crystal gives front doors an etched-glass look.
Read more: Decorative and frosted film
Does blackout film block all light?
Through the glass, yes. Black Out lets 0% of visible light through. Any light you still notice comes from around the window frame, not through the film.
Read more: Blackout and whiteout film
What's the difference between blackout and whiteout film?
Both give total privacy. Black Out makes the window solid black and the room dark. White Out makes the window a bright, solid white. Pick Black Out for darkness and White Out for a hidden window with a lighter look.

Can blackout film go on dual-pane windows?
We'll evaluate your windows and tell you the safest option. We need to see the glass first.

Security, Anti-Graffiti and Turf Protection Film
What does security window film actually do?
It bonds to the glass and helps hold it together when it breaks. The glass still cracks, but the pieces tend to stay in the frame instead of falling out.
Read more: Security window film
Will security film stop a break-in?
No window film can promise that. What it does is help hold broken glass in place, so a break-in takes more time and more noise. That extra time is the point.
Read more: Security window film
Can you see security film on the window?
The clear films are very hard to spot. They let 88% to 89% of visible light through, so your windows look much like they do now.
Read more: Security window film
How does anti-graffiti window film work?
It's a clear, sacrificial layer on the glass. Scratches, etching and tags land in the film instead of the glass. When a panel is damaged, we replace the film and the glass underneath stays clean.
Read more: Anti-graffiti window film
Is anti-graffiti film the same as security film?
No. Anti-graffiti film protects the surface of the glass from scratches and tags. Security film helps hold glass together after it breaks.

Why are my windows melting my artificial turf?
Dual-pane Low-E windows can flex slightly inward as the air between the panes reacts to temperature and pressure. The curved outer pane concentrates the sun's reflection into a hot band, and that band can melt plastic turf.
Read more: Turf protection film
What is turf protection film, and what does it cost?
It's a clear perforated film that goes on the outside of the panes causing the melt. You look out through a fine pattern of tiny holes. It starts around $18 a square foot installed, and it doesn't carry a warranty.
Read more: Turf protection film
Will regular window tint stop my turf from melting?
No. Home window tint goes on the inside of the glass and handles heat, glare and UV coming into the room. The reflection going out into the yard needs turf protection film on the outside.
