The View Stays. The Glare and Heat Don't.

In the foothills, the city spreads out below and the Catalinas rise behind the house. If your big windows face that view, they face south, and the sun comes with it.

South-facing glass sounds gentle until winter. The sun sits low and comes straight across the room for most of the day. West windows take the late afternoon all year. Large picture windows, arched glass and tall clerestories add even more sun. And no one wants to climb up to close a shade.

The fear we hear most is simple: don't touch the view. That's where we start, every time.

The Same Ridgeline and City Lights, Just Cooler

  • The view stays sharp. Good film doesn't look cloudy. You see the same ridgeline and the same city lights. You just stop squinting.
  • Art, rugs and wood floors hold their color. Our solar films block up to 99% of UV, the main cause of fading. Window film to prevent fading
  • The great room works in the afternoon. Film stops the heat at the glass. The chair by the window gets used again.
  • The shades can stay open. Film handles most of the glare, so you get to enjoy the windows you paid for.

Choosing Your Look: The View Untouched or a Little More Privacy

There's no wrong answer on how your windows look. You pick one look for the whole house. We match one film to it, so every window looks clean and even from the street. We install SunTek window film.

Light: Ultra-VisionDS is barely visible on the glass and blocks over 97% of UV. Ultra-VisionDS 50 blocks 68% of the sun's infrared heat, the heat you feel on your skin. Ultra-VisionDS 40 blocks 80%. Clear window film

Dark: Dual-ReflectiveDS gives you more privacy and glare control, with a softer look from inside than a full mirror. Dual-ReflectiveDS 15 rejects 71% of the sun's total heat and cuts 84% of glare. Dual reflective film

Here's what we'd do on most Foothills homes. The view is the reason you live here, so go light. If the house faces a street or a neighbor more than the city, go dual-reflective. You'll see both on your own glass, in daylight, before you decide. Does window tint make a house dark?

Big Glass, Older Glass and HOA Review: We Check It All

Large panes, older single-pane glass, steel frames and dual-pane Low-E windows all take film differently. We follow SunTek's film-to-glass chart on every window. We only use films that are a safe match for your glass. If one of your panes isn't a good fit for a film, we'll tell you up front. Window film on dual-pane and Low-E windows

If your neighborhood has an HOA that reviews changes from the street, bring the guidelines to the estimate. We'll show you films that fit them, and we'll give you the film name and specs if your HOA asks. Window tint and HOA rules

Catalina Foothills Window Tint Questions

Will window film affect my mountain or city view?

Not in a way you'd mind. Good film doesn't look cloudy. Light films like Ultra-VisionDS are barely visible, and darker films keep a clear view out during the day too.

Will I see my reflection at night?

At night, any window reflects a lit room. Dual-ReflectiveDS is made to keep that inside reflection low. If night views matter to you, tell us at the estimate and we'll factor it into our recommendation.

Can you tint large picture windows and arched glass?

Yes. We check each pane, including its size and frame, and only use films that are a safe match. We bring ladders sized for tall glass and protect the floor underneath.

Will film protect my artwork?

Our solar films block up to 99% of UV, the main cause of fading. Light film is a good fit for art rooms because the daylight stays natural.

How much does window tinting cost in the Foothills?

Most homes start around $14 a square foot installed. Your price depends on the film, your glass, the size and height of the windows and how many you do. You get an exact quote on the spot at the estimate.

Do you do whole-home packages?

Yes, and it's what we recommend. Tucson Home Window Tint matches one film to the whole house, so every window looks the same from the street. Doing the whole house at once also means the crew only comes out once.
